The MISSING CHAIR looks as if a simple line drawing has come to life. Sensual yet strong, the soft curve of each line creates a whimsy that is hard to describe. The straight lines have been softened so that the wooden seat and backrest seem to float above the thin steel frame. What remains is the essence in our own interpretation of the simple café chair: lightweight, stackable and durable, complemented by an extremely comfortable silhouette.

The SHOEMAKER CHAIR by Form & Refine is a Danish classic from 1936 that adapts to every body shape and is versatile. The seat with the anatomically shaped curves consists of a large, solid piece of wood and is supported by the three chair legs. The T-connection between the legs contributes to the stability. Due to the naturally different wood grain, each chair is unique and brings Nordic aesthetics to the dining room or living room.
After the first production of the chair in 1936, the Werner family of wood turners spent three generations refining the shape of the shoemaker's chair, improving the design and production and making the chair what it is today: a true, archetypal classic. To this day, each one is produced in the family-owned wood turnery Gislev Drejerforretning on the Danish island of Funen.
