SWEDISHDESIGN

Fogia was founded in 1981 by Hans Rosander and Lars Fritzell and was originally called A.B.G - Trading. The founders developed a pioneering method of joining plexiglass panels to create eye-catching tables and storage. In the following years, the company grew and began producing more furniture until it changed its name to Fogia Collection in 1986.

Fogia's reputation as a manufacturer of quality furniture developed quickly, and the company received numerous orders for public spaces while building a network of retailers throughout Sweden. Today, they still take pride in upholding the DNA of the Fogia brand and maintain close personal relationships with all their retailers.

Manufacturing

Fogias furniture is handmade from scratch in their own factory in Gdansk, Poland. They use the best mix of traditional and modern techniques and control production quality throughout the production chain.

One of the main aspects that sets Fogia apart is their approach to the selection and processing of wood and timber. They select wood while it is still growing in the forests near our factory, and always try to source it locally to minimise transport distances. They also start with the unprocessed log and mill it themselves to minimise waste.

And their natural materials and suppliers are close partners, which in turn gives them better control and ensures that they meet their own strict environmental standards.

Fogia is no longer owned by its founders and was revived by a new owner in 2011. The Fogia collection was revamped and the brand took a new direction by collaborating with a number of designers from across Scandinavia and Europe. Fogia remains true to its roots as one of Sweden's upholstered furniture experts, but also pushes boundaries within the conventional design framework. Today, Fogia sets the tone and pace of Swedish design, while modern icons like Tiki and Bollo are changing the shape and expression of Nordic design. Fogia is the benchmark for Swedish design, always coming up with surprises and innovations to break with traditional norms.

Together with their designers and staff, they select textiles and materials according to the design ideas of these creative minds. Fogia's extensive knowledge in the industry enriches each piece with life and style.
