Sumo celebrates the human body. In reference to the Japanese sport of sumo, all the vases are voluminous in size and shape and rest on narrow, pointed legs. All vases have different openings, from the traditional narrow vase openings to double openings and deeply carved openings. The Sumo collection addresses the contrast between familiar vase shapes and the addition of artistic, more abstract ideas and details that challenge our individual perception of the shape of a vase. Inspired by the characteristic shapes of the Medusa, the Medusa Ceramics emphasises the soft oval shapes and details of the jellyfish.Elegantly sculpted, each Medusa is lifted slightly above the floor by a number of small conic shaped legs, reminiscing the tentacles of the jellyfish. Medusa has a very elegant and simple expression and can easily be placed in any interior scheme as a sculptural object or vase for flowers or decorations.Medusa comes in both vases and trays and is made from ceramic. The Tube candle holders, a series of ceramic slats, are all about repetition as a minimalist sculptural detail. Inspired by 70s sculpture and design, Tube is based on a single oval shape that repeats to create a continuous sculptural object. Tube comes in two different sizes, with two candles or four candles. Paper folding is an ancient Japanese art form called origami, and the vase series that bears its name is inspired by this meticulous and organic tradition. Imitating two pieces of paper folded on top of each other, the vases are a refined and playful physical celebration of this technique. Soft meets sharp. Just as with paper origami, it takes patience to really master the method, and so it took several attempts to achieve the vases' current low falling round shape and thin opening.
