The Kamado chair, named after traditional Japanese clay stoves, emphasises the unique Japanese aesthetic in a minimalist lounge chair made of fibre concrete. Kamado means "place for the kettle" and the traditional stoves were built directly on the floor of clay. Air openings around the floor gave the impression of legs, which were used as a reference for the front legs of the Kamado Chair. The asymmetry that was common in the first stoves is accentuated in the Kamado Chair by the one-sided armrest, which provides an elevated and relaxing seating comfort The chair is cast in lightweight fibre-reinforced concrete, creating a unique surface texture and increasing the chair's overall mobility. Each piece is hand-painted to create a textured and unique surface. Emphasising the delicate balance between sharp architectural lines and Japanese aesthetics, the Kamado Chair is a sculptural statement with compelling seating comfort.
