Asian ceramic objects for storage serve as inspiration for Osaka, a series of sculptural and pretty bowls to adorn any table. The simplified hemisphere is lifted from the ground by three walls, as if merging the perfect round and square shape into one object. The brutalistic and heavy appearance of the Osaka bowls is underlined by the fact that they are cast from solid fibre concrete. Sumo celebrates the human body. In reference to the Japanese sport of sumo, all the vases are voluminous in size and shape and rest on narrow, pointed legs. All vases have different openings, from the traditional narrow vase openings to double openings and deeply carved openings. The Sumo collection deals with the contrast between familiar vase shapes and the addition of artistic, abstract ideas and details that challenge our individual perception of the shape of a vase.
