The transfer and transformation of simple Japanese inspiration into a Scandinavian context is about honouring quality, heritage and materiality, never compromising on form and function. The third designer, Nicolaj Nøddesbo, is a trained architect and brings his knowledge of innovative lighting solutions and timeless novelties to the 101 Copenhagen collections. 101 Copenhagen is a curated selection of tactile, bold objects that stand out from the crowd and come together to form a whole.

Tommy Hyldahl
Owner and Main Designer

With a background in the fashion industry, where he spent years forecasting and analysing future trends, Tommy Hyldahl has a natural eye for detail in materials, historical references and original design concepts. Similar to fashion, design at 101 Copenhagen starts with an idea that evolves into a multi-layered narrative of each collection.

Kristian Sofus Hansen
Main Designer

Kristian Sofus Hansen, who was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and spent some time living and studying in Japan, brings aesthetics and simplicity to the Danish design heritage and knows how to translate and implement these small characteristic details into the 101 Copenhagen collection. He mainly designs sculptures and objects and is a never-ending source of inspiration for Hansen, whose aim is to create characteristic and functional design that will be remembered.

Nicolaj Nøddesbo
Designer

Nicolaj Nøddesbo, who studied at the Aarhus School of Architecture, develops innovative lighting solutions and timeless novelties for the 101 Copenhagen collection. Since joining the team in 2017, his mission has been to give personality and character to functional objects by focusing on materiality, tactility and sense of space when creating minimalist and sculptural design objects.
